Product Benefits

  • Friction across the REXSHIELD 1090 coated surface decreases on average of 18-20%, resulting in an increased durability and longevity of the coated surface.
  • Demonstrates an increased flow rate of both liquid and gaseous substances across its surface versus a non-coated metal surface.

Additional Benefits

  • Protection against oxidation, microbial intrusion, chemical corrosion, and ultraviolet degradation.

Additional FAQ's

Ready-to-Use RexShield 1090 General Purpose Metal Coating Anti-Corrosion?
Precautions for Painted Surfaces/Surface Preparation
REXSHIELD 1090 must be applied over a sound clean surface free of loose or flaking existing coatings and must be free of oil and silicon residues. Existing coatings must be 100% cured to manufacturer specifications prior to the application of REXSHIELD 1090.

All existing coatings
must be free of water and water vapor prior to the application of REXSHIELD 1090. Surfaces that are glossy should be dulled with 1000 to 1200
grit sandpaper, careful not to break through to color, or use Scotch Brite. Hydro blasting or sandblasting is only recommended on bare metal
surfaces. If chemical abrasion or preparation is used on the substrate, the pH of the substrate must be neutralized before the application of the
REXSHIELD 1090. A pH level between the range of 6 to 8 is most optimal for the correct bonding of the REXSHIELD 1090 to the substrate to
be coated.

Mixing of REXSHIELD 1090
REXSHIELD 1090 is a coating that is pre-measured and pre-packaged under argon gas. Once opened and exposed to the atmosphere, the two components of the coating must be mixed and catalyzed at one time in their entirety.

The components are packaged in two bottles labeled (A) and (B).

Remove the caps and the heat seals from the two bottles and carefully pour the contents of (B) into the bottle of (A). As the contents are pre-packaged in exact amounts for proper catalyzation to occur, it is vital to empty the entire contents of (B) into (A) and not to spill (B) during the process.

Replace the cap on the (A) bottle and shake for a period of at least three minutes to mix.

Application of REXSHIELD 1090
We recommend applying REXSHIELD RUFF-N-TUFF surface preparation solution, with a coarse grain cloth, allowing the REXSHIELD RUFF-N-TUFF to remain on the surface for a period of at least 5 minutes. On surfaces that contain heavy oxidation, we recommend sandblasting, grinding, wire brushing or sanding the surface prior to the application of the REXSHIELD RUFF-N-TUFF.

The surface to be coated with REXSHIELD 1090 must be clean, free from all oil and silicone residue, free from heavy and loose oxidation, and free from water and water vapor.

Do not induce heat to the substrate. Ensure that any operation temperature or fabrication temperatures such as those induced from welding have returned to ambient. Once REXSHIELD 1090 has been correctly mixed, you are now ready to apply with brush, roller, cloth, pad, or spray with a HVLP spray gun. Apply through layers of thin coats until a final coating exists of approximately 2 mils thick wet.
